Eskmeals House

ESKMEALS HOUSE is a charming Georgian detached residence set in its own grounds consisting of, natural grounds, a walled garden and woodland which is approximately seven acres in total. The house is close to the Irish Sea and beach (3/4 mile) with a lengthy beach and surrounded by rich pastureland with spectacular views of the Lakeland Fells and hills.

Eskmeals House is near to Ravenglass and the wonderful Eskdale Valley, Wastwater (England`s deepest lake) and Scafell, (highest mountain in England).

The house is ideal for celebrations, business functions, groups or families wishing to enjoy the space and ambience of a large country residence.

The house is full of character with large rooms containing working Georgian fireplaces and stoves for cosy evenings.

The Accommodation Comprises:

  • Front Lounge (16` x 13`6) with Georgian Fireplace overlooking the front garden.
  • Dining Room (13`6 x 13`6) with period fireplace, three old pine tables and overlooking the front garden.
  • Panelled Hallway and cloakroom with WC.
  • Well-Equipped Kitchen (12`6 x12`) features Range style Halogen Electric cooker with 5 cooking elements, two ovens and grill. Microwave, large Smeg fridge, dishwasher and ample quantities of white bone china, crockery and pans, etc.
  • Drawing Room (16` x 21) with stripped floor, large multifuel stove, colour TV, Freeview & DVD Player, CD Hi-Fi and large window overlooking the front garden.
  • Banquet Style Dining Room with stone floor, Inglenook fire with multi-fuel stove.
  • Breakfast and Extra Food Storage Room featuring, wine/beer cooler, freezer, large pine prep’ table, shelving and pine table underneath, Welsh Dresser.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Holidays commence from 4pm on the day of arrival and end at 10am on departure day.

Please bring towels and tea towels.

Checklist of items included:

Bed linen (duvets and white cotton linen). Beds made up for arrival.

2 x Toilet Rolls per Lavatory

Coal. We provide 3 x 50kg bags of coal per reservation. Sorry, we do not provide logs. If you require more coal or logs, these are available locally at Holmrook Garage approximately 8 miles from the house.

Oil Central Heating. During the Winter period, the Central Heating is set to come on between the hours of 7:45am - 11:30am and 3pm - 12:30am. If you require central heating outside of these hours, there is an extra charge each day of £15 between 11:30am - 3pm and £15 between 12:30am - 7:45am.

Ratty Arms, Ravenglass; converted railway station serving good food with an extensive menu. Children welcome. There are also several other good pubs in the Eskdale Valley.

There is a Butchers called Bewleys, at Bootle.

Mini market at Bootle and the nearest supermarkets at Millom, Egremont & Whitehaven.

Please note a 20% deposit secures the booking with the balance due 8 weeks before your holiday.
