“Spent a wonderful week over half-term at Eskmeals House. The weather was perfect and the house was welcoming at the end of days spent canoeing on Wasdale, swimming up at Eskdale, and climbing Great Gable and various other peaks. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The oven was easy to use and plenty of serving dishes. We had breakfast on the side lawn, plenty of tables and chairs to seat us all, then as evening came we moved to the front lawn to catch the setting sun and still plenty of room for the children to play games. Later we lit the stoves and played cards and games before turning in. The house is just a pleasant stroll to a lovely beach, perfect for cricket and rounders, and the day we went we were the only ones there. In the other direction is a interesting walk over the sandhills looking out for larks, cuckoos and other wildlife. It was also reassuring to have Yvonne just next door and she was always very quick to reply to any query we had. It was a truly magical week.e came from all parts of the UK and had a simply wonderfull weekend. Thank you so much for a peaceful time.” Jill K-G.

The balance of everything was just right – a glorious huge manor house with a comfortable cottage feel, sophisticated for adults but toddler friendly, private and in lovely grounds, but close to attractions. “We would like to say thank-you very much for making us all feel so so comfortable in your house. It was a perfect venue to hold a special anniversary with all the family. The fires in both rooms were great. The beds were so comfy and all the rooms were really big. We visited the local pub The Brown Cow and the food was gorgeous. They went out of their way to look after all 20 of us. We would highly recommend their pizzas as they also do takeaways. The Ratty pub was also lovely in Ravenglass and so was the Ratty railway. “Hi Yvonne, Just a quick note to say a massive thank you to you for letting us have your amazing house for the week, we all had so much fun. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves playing hide and seek and exploring the house and the grounds. It was also lovely that we could all sit down together and have our evening meals in the brill banquet room that sat all 21 of us plus 2 baby highchairs comfortably. The house isn’t very far away from Scafell Pike which was great for the walkers amongst us.Thank you so so much again for letting us have the best week away. “Hi Yvonne. I just wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed our weekend at Eskmeals House. Everyone commented on what a fantastic place to stay it was and how lovely it was for all 18 of us to be able to sit around the huge table and share cooked breakfasts and evening meals. Please could you also pass on our compliments to the chefs at the Brown Cow Inn, great food and they coped admirably with serving 18 people at short notice. I had a very memorable 50th birthday weekend and I am trying to organise a group get-together on an annual basis, so hopefully we might return to Eskmeals House in the future. Regards Tracy. ”
“We stayed at Eskmeals for the weekend for a family golden wedding anniversary. Yvonne was so helpful in the run up to our visit, and the fire was lit for when we arrived and everything ready. We had organised a Tesco delivery of food to the house so settled in for our stay. The house was huge with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, all tastefully decorated in keeping with the property. During our stay we never found anything missing from the vast kitchen, so much cutlery and crockery, and assorted implements, cooking dishes, not to mention hundreds of glasses! Also, handily for large groups, there are several teapots and cafetieres so we never ran out of drinks. The gardens are great, contained for the dog, and parking forever. We couldn’t have found a better house to have our celebration, and Yvonne made it so comfortable, I’d go back like a shot!” Nicola W.
